WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– Wilmington’s Residential Adolescent Achievement Place, or WRAAP, showed people around the world this afternoon, showcasing various global cultures.

WRAAP hosted a Multicultural Festival this afternoon in Wilmington at Freedom’s Way Ministries in celebration of Multicultural Day today, Tuesday April 9th.

This event was an opportunity to explore various ethnic groups and cultures.

A diverse network of community partners represented several cultural items like clothes, cultural food, customs, exhibits and displays, performances, and traditions.

Wilmington residents Samuel and Kitsa Wiersteiner represented Greece at the festival.

Kitsa is from Greece, and came to the U.S. to attend Virginia Tech.

She met her husband Sam there, who is from West Virginia, and decided to stay in the US.

“The culture is so different than America,” said Kitsa.

“I think the best thing my wife does is the kitchen,” said Sam.

“These are the koulourakia the best-known Greek cookie you can have with your coffee. Of course, this one is the last one left,” said Kitsa.

The Wiersteiner’s say the best way to explore the Greek culture is to attend the Greek Fest coming up in May, where they will have a table as well.
